Giancarlo is Head of Banking with the North American affiliate of the World Economic Forum, which acts as the New York-based global headquarters for its Centre for Global Industries.
Before joining the World Economic Forum Giancarlo spent several years in banking, starting his financial services career in corporate finance with Dresdner Bank in Milan, with Creditanstalt-Bankverein in Vienna, with Banque Indosuez in Luxembourg and subsequently in the Geneva-based headquarters of the private banking operations of Crédit Agricole. Prior to his private sector career, Giancarlo spent time at the United Nations, the European Parliament and the Italian Institute of Statistics.
Currently Giancarlo serves as a Senior Fellow at the Mossavar Rahmani Center for Business and Government of the J.F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University, conducting research in the field of social mobility.
Giancarlo holds a Masters in International Management of the CEMS – Community of European Management Schools – from the Wirthschaftsuniversität Wien, Vienna and the Hochschule Sankt Gallen, Switzerland, with a major in European studies, and a BA with honors in Economics and Business Management from Università Commerciale L. Bocconi, Milan with a major in corporate finance. Giancarlo speaks fluently 5 European languages and has taught Italian literature and culture at the Université Populaire du Canton de Genève, Geneva.
